‘Knowledge is power’ is an age-old adage that rings true today and will continue to be just as valid even in the times to come. Over time, with digitalisation, data mining, etc. our ways and means of applying knowledge have changed but the basic urge to internalise knowledge remains unchanged. And so does our need for books that help us understand new concepts and subjects.
It was thus with great happiness that students of the Consignment Tracking Executive training batch of Allcargo’s skill development centre at Bokadvira, Uran, received the handbooks that were distributed to them. Considering that they mostly come from underprivileged backgrounds, getting access to knowledge through good-quality books without having to purchase them is an added advantage. It is also a great motivator to complete the training and be able to financially support their families.
To give our Consignment Tracking Executive batch students an industry perspective, we also invited dignitaries and officials from the Ministry of Shipping to address them. Mr. J. S. Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Shipping, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and spoke to the students about how India’s youth bring forth a huge demographic advantage that can be leveraged to its full potential through skilling. He also took a tour of the centre and congratulated Allcargo on the good work being done.
Allcargo’s skill development centre formed as a result of a MoU with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is run under the Ministry of Skill Development and Ministry of Shipping’s joint Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) scheme. It offers training that helps youngsters to work in the logistics industry as Heavy Vehicle Drivers, Consignment Booking Assistants, Consignment Tracking Executives, Documentation Assistants, Inventory Clerks and Warehouse Pickers.
Our aim has always been to enhance the skill set within the logistics industry in an inclusive manner because progress means nothing if it doesn’t take everyone along, right?
