Launched under the guidance of our beloved Chairman Mr. Shashi Kiran Shetty, Allcargo Greens is our collective effort to conserve the environment, reduce waste and use renewable energy sources. In the two years since the launch of Allcargo Greens, this is the third beach clean-up activity organised. In 2018, we had undertaken a similar activity with employees and partners to clean up Juhu beach.
This time we took it upon ourselves to reclaim Dadar beach. Being one of the key locations for immersion of Ganpati idols after Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations ended on Thursday, 12th September 2019, the beach was littered with trash and plastic. Our Allcargo Greens Dadar beach clean-up drive aimed at getting into action, stepping out and cleaning up to restore the beach.
“The beach clean-up drive is a part of our mission to do our bit for a cleaner country and sustainable environment. Through this initiative, we aim to spread the message to work towards a plastic-free, litter-free and pollution-free environment, a cause I strongly feel about. I am extremely happy with the support and encouragement received from our colleagues and the partners in the Dadar beach clean-up drive. Following our Group’s philosophy, we’ll continue with such activities to develop awareness on the values of clean and green surroundings,” said Mr. Shetty, elated with the participation.
“Giving back to the society is everyone’s responsibility, in their own ways. It can start from your home, neighbourhood and community. Getting together to clean-up our beaches and better our surroundings is a wonderful initiative. I am happy that even our associates support our commitment towards efforts that make a real difference. I want to touch the lives of as many people as possible through Avashya Foundation and set an example of social responsibility towards the society we live in,” said Mrs. Arathi Shetty, Head CSR Committee, Avashya Foundation and Non-Executive Director, Allcargo Logistics.
Children from Light of Life Trust and Saad Foundation – two of Avashya Foundation’s partners, also participated in the Allcargo Greens Dadar beach clean-up drive. Equipped with gloves and cleaning tools, we collected a whole lot of bags of garbage and waste. Most of it was plastic, which is a major cause of pollution and environment deterioration.
The beach clean-up experience was an eye-opener of sorts because when you actually get your hands dirty and start cleaning up, that’s when you realise the magnitude of the pollution caused. It was heartening to see everyone get together and do their bit for the city’s beaches. Even the early arrival of the high tide did not deter us and the efforts continued with unwavering commitment!
Kudos to everyone working towards a greener future and being transforming agents in building a sustainable environment!
