Over 1300 patients receive help with Jeevan

Healthcare is one of the key focus areas of Allcargo’s CSR initiatives (the other five being Environment, Education, Women Empowerment, Disaster Relief and Sports). Through Avashya Foundation, our CSR arm, we carry out numerous programmes and interventions across these areas.

Due to increasing costs of good quality healthcare and gaps in the public healthcare system, a lengthy illness often ends up becoming a nightmare for the poor. It entails a loss of income for the daily wage earner not only as a patient, but also as a care provider. The entire family is affected.

Partnering with the hospital authorities, we identify beneficiaries who receive financial assistance from the Avashya Foundation for medical care, operative care and diagnostic care at these hospitals. We work in cooperation with key BMC hospitals, namely Sion Hospital, Nair Hospital and KEM Hospital.

Along with Jeevan, we also have Jeevan – Coping with Cancer, an initiative that focuses on helping cancer-stricken patients with financial assistance for chemotherapy. The diagnosis of a life-threatening disease not only shatters the patient, but also his or her family. So we don’t stop at monetary support but also provide patients and their families with help to manage the psycho-social effect of cancer.

In just the last four months, over 1300 patients have benefited from our initiative.
  • More than 900 patients were given medical, operation and investigative support at Sion Hospital.
  • Over 150 patients have received financial assistance for medical and chemotherapy support at KEM hospital.
  • More than 230 patients received medical and cancer support at Nair Hospital.

We don’t put an end-time to the duration of our assistance and at times refer patients to relevant trusts and NGOs that could help them better. It is always our endeavour to help out the maximum number of underprivileged individuals in as many ways possible.
